TIM SANCHEZ

Thrashing at speed across the Baja Peninsula, testing the ultimate endurance of man and machine against the harsh environment known as the Baja Peninsula is not for the timid at heart. In fact, off road desert racing and wild adventure travel spares no mercy on anyone, regardless of who you are.
Adventure seeker and desert racer, Tim Sanchez, experienced the first taste of high-speed adrenaline in the 1960’s as a youngster. Together, he shared the passion of Baja adventure travel with his father beginning at 7-years old.
Tim’s love affair with the majestic land known as “Baja” is four decades in the making.
Some 40 years later, after nearly a half million Baja adventure miles, Tim’s dream of sharing his passion of off road adventure came to life. In 2005, he was joined by his 20-year old daughter, Brittany, where the father/daughter duo raced the SCORE Baja 1000 together in the highly competitive Baja Bug class. They crossed the line over 25 hours later, exiting the race car, beaten and battered, but smiling ear-to-ear.
The Baja Peninsula has long been considered a second-home for the California native who was born to a Mexican father and an Irish mother. Over the many years, Tim balanced his adventure lifestyle with a successful public service career as a law enforcement officer. He is also a well-regarded entrepreneur who has been involved in several thriving business ventures. He is the founder of DIRTnewz.com .
Always the overachiever, Tim proved his desert racing skills in SCORE Class 5/1600 as a fierce competitor, who claimed victory in the 2005 BITD Terrible’s Town 250 and the 2007 SCORE Primm 300.
In 2007, Sanchez was an integral part of the SCORE Baja 1000 Overall Champions effort in the longest ever SCORE Baja 1000 that ran the length of the Mexican peninsula. Sanchez coordinated Riviera Racing’s logistics and month-long prerunning activities that eventually led to the overall victory in perhaps the most historic desert race of all-time, the 40th SCORE Baja 1000, a 1300-mile odyssey.
The flipside of this high-energy adrenaline junky adventure seeker is nearly the opposite. Tim is an accomplished photographer and published journalist who has been featured in a variety of off road and Baja travel publications, both in print and online. He maintains an incredible network of Baja Amigos north and south along the peninsula.
Tim and his family enjoy a small beachside getaway in the mystical Baja seaside town of San Felipe.
Tim is the President of Rock On Motorsports Management, Inc. a marketing and advertising firm specializing in off road motorsports. ROMM, Inc. owns and operates DIRTnewz.com.
